This prevents a piece of plastic from remaining between the battery and the solar module. Upon purchase, the battery is not fully charged. Once this power is depleted, the battery must be charged by placing\/hanging the solar module in sunlight. After charging the battery, you can test if the LED light comes on by placing your hand over the solar panel. If you want to hang the LUMIZ in a tree, make sure it is not directly under the leaves of the tree. This prevents the solar panel from receiving insufficient sunlight for proper and long-lasting operation.
